Dr. Jerry Medernach

Jerry Medernach (curriculum vitae) began his sports studies in 2006 at the German Sport University. He graduated in 2015 (Ph.D.) and is currently working as a post-doc researcher at the Institute of Exercise Training and Sports Informatics of the German Sports University. His current research focuses on cognitive processes in indoor bouldering. Jerry also works as sports teacher, climbing coach, and route setter. He started climbing in 2002, was a member of the German National Climbing Team NRW, and managed to climb routes up to 8b+. Sharing his knowledge as a scientist and climbing coach has always played a pivotal role in his life. Julian Henz

Julian Henz is a scientific researcher at the Institute of Exercise and Sports Informatics of the German Sports University in Cologne.He started his sports science studies in 2013, and took up his mathematical studies in 2015. In 2021, he graduated in both and is currently investigating the key determinants of route setting in indoor bouldering. Julian started bouldering in 2011 and, since then, bouldering has become a major passion in his life. He managed to climb several boulders up to Fb 8a in France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Sweden. In addition to his research, he is currently working as a professional routesetter and is the managing director of the Get High Routesetting GmbH.
